Daddy McC's birthday celebrations!

Monday 12th May - Daddy McC's birthday!!!

All the McC children were ready for school and waiting eagerly for Daddy McC to come down to this!

WOW!  Super special surprises from McC 1, McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4 and of course a few special gifts from Mummy McC!  Happy Daddy McC!!!

Next came some gifts from Mummy McC's brother (who happens to share his birthday with Daddy McC, strange) sister-in-law and neice, Mummy McC's sister and nephew and Nannan and Grandad B.  McC 2 and McC 3 were very excited to see a £20 note inside Daddy McC's card!!!

Next was the gift from Nanny S (Daddy McC's Mum).  Such a large and heavy gift - so yummy!!!  Mummy McC said that all could share this gift!!!

Lovely chilled day, not much on (a few to collect at Nursery and after School) and then a party tea!!!  Daddy McC was joined by Mummy McC, all the McC children, three mindees and K & D - celebrations!!!  Enough food to feed everyone???

CAKE TIME!!!  Wooooohooooooo - Chocolate Orange Swirl!!!

Chill out night, with a bit of comedy on the television, a nice cold Cidre for Daddy McC in his new glass - what a brilliant day 1 of celebrations!!!

Tuesday 13th May - let's continue the celebrations!!!

Mummy McC took Daddy McC out for breakfast after the school run!!!  It is not very often that Mummy McC and Daddy McC have no children with them (McC's or mindees, there's normally somebody!!!)

A bit of shopping followed - new games and books were checked out, but not purchased (Daddy McC is a true Scot when it comes to parting with money)!!!  Mummy McC bought Daddy McC a new jumper and then a treat to chill after the shopping - ice-cream time!!!

Wednesday 14th May - more birthday celebrations!!!

A bit of a relaxing morning - Daddy McC slept in bed a bit longer than normal!!!  After Nursery runs back and to and collecting the children from school, McC 1 met Daddy McC and took him to the cinema.  They watched a movie with Spiderman in it and both seemed to have enjoyed themselves (popcorn and hot dogs!!!)  Late home and hungry, another quick take-away ordered (well, it is birthday times!!!)

Can Mummy McC get away with any more celebrations?!?!?!  x

Monday 12 May 2014

Oh my, what a Sunday!!!

Up early as usual, Mummy McC got everything ready for the day ahead - McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4 got dressed and ready for Church.  Nannan B arrived and a mindee (Mummy McC's nephew) arrived too.  Off for a quick walk to town in an attempt to catch the right bus!!!  McC 1 had strict instructions from his rugby coach to go and support his team at their match, so he missed Church.

The Number 2 bus dropped us all just outside Church and we all made our way straight into Church (no Sunday School this week).  The Bishop was taking some of the service as it was Confirmation for some of the children (such a special day).  McC 2, McC 3, McC 4 and Mummy McC's nephew all managed to stay fairly quiet throughout the service (no major dramas - phew!)

A cuppa and a chat to follow - most of the Church congregation hadn't seen Nannan B for some time so all wanted a quick catch up!!!  McC 2, McC 3, McC 4 and Mummy McC's nephew shared the iPad's, phones and DS's about in order to have some chill time.

A hungry walk to KFC - chicken all round, yummy!!!  With a nice full belly, off to see Great Grandad B.  Great Grandad B and his dog B were so excited to see us all - it was Great Grandad B's birthday.  Everybody said Happy Birthday and Great Grandad was given a gift - a new DVD to watch!

Unfortunately we could not stay for long, Sunday buses are not easy for the Church trip!  Mummy McC, McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4 had been invited by Uncle C and Auntie L to go round for cake (Uncle C's birthday is tomorrow)!  Auntie L had made a beautiful cake!!!  Bus to town, walk to Tesco (Mummy McC wanted something to go with Uncle C's present), quickest walk in-grab-pay-leave EVER in Tesco!!!  Then straight to Uncle C's house.

Auntie C was already there (her shift had been cancelled).  Little Baby E was sleeping, quiet tip toes all round!!!  Bit of a chat, family get togethers are fun!!!  Baby E wakes up and Auntie L lights a candle for Uncle C.  Great singing all round!!!

Cake time - wooooohoooooo!!!  Auntie L had made a different cake, one with NO sponge!!!  Mummy McC just had to try a slice.  Uncle C had made brownies to take into work and Mummy McC just had to try one or two of them too!!!

Cakes all finished, bit of dancing and trying to talk Polish to Baby E!!!  Then home time - Uncle C very kindly offered to give Mummy McC and the McC children home, saved the walk!!!

Tired and hungry!!!  Mummy McC sent Daddy McC out to get burgers - yummy!!!  Nothing better than eating a Chicken Mayo and a Double Cheeseburger in a onesie!!!  Far too much food eaten in one day, but very happy people in this house today!!!

Mummy McC began secret preparations for Daddy McC - it's Daddy McC's 31st Birthday tomorrow (Yep, Daddy McC shares a birthday with Mummy McC's brother!!!)  Little does Daddy McC know that there are three days of birthday plans to deal with!!!  Happy Mummy McC, but will Daddy McC be happy???  x

Sunday 11 May 2014

McC 4 football!!!

McC 4 woke up feeling very excited this morning!!!  Mummy McC had booked McC 4 a football class at Giddy Kidz. McC 4 was even more excited that it would be a very special football coach, Matt.  (Matt is very special to McC 4, he made the 3rd birthday party incredible)!

It was a quiet session, three children, bit that made it so much easier for McC to pay attention. After a bit of practice, some careful listening and some guidance from Matt McC 4 was able to dribble the ball fairly well. A few interesting games involving a postman and cones and a fast kick the down at the end.

McC 4 is already counting down the days until the next session!!!

Mummy McC highly recommends this football session for little ones!!!

Check out Giddy Kidz Facebook page for more details!!!  X

Friday 9 May 2014

Friday night - Warrington Wolves night!!!

Warrington Wolves play rugby - Mummy McC does not know which type.  Mummy McC knows there are two - League and Union.  Mummy McC's brother plays one type and Warrington Wolves the other type - haha, not big on the Rugby idea!!!  It's all a bit strange, in one type you get to keep the ball regardless of tackles, but the other type you may only be tackled five times and then the ball is handed over to the other team!!!  Complicated points scoring occurs too - more than one point for a try and a kick?!?!

Daddy McC says that Warrington Wolves is Rugby League - this is the type of Rugby that McC 1 has started playing/training for!!!  Daddy McC says that Rugby League score 4 points for a try and 2 for a kick, but Rugby Union is 5 for a try and 2 for a kick.  Then it gets complicated for penalty kicks and Mummy McC's mind can't take much more - haha!!!

McC 2 and McC 4 are watching the match with Daddy McC - cheering and laughing, looking out for Wolfie!!!  So much excitement!!!  Warrington are winning - happy McC children!!!

Let's hope they win the match!!!  x

BLOG YOUR HEART OUT!

Blog your Heart out!

I have been tagged by mummy M's memories. to take on the Blog Your Heart Out meme.

So what is the Blog Your Heart Out meme all about? It involves me answering five questions about blogging and then tagging a couple of bloggers to pass on the meme and keep the blog love going. Think of it as a modern day chain letter, just nicer.

Who/What encouraged you to start blogging?
One of my friend's - mummy M's memories.  I loved reading about what she had been doing with her beautiful daughters, where they had been, what they had made, what mummy M felt, what they might do next - basically all about what they had been doing - I'm so nosey!  Such a lovely way to remember the things you do!!!

How did you choose what to blog about?
I decided to blog about what we do most in here - care for our wonderful children and the mindees that come round, so much fun!!!  Basically, my life - every day is children day (either just my 4 or with extra mindees) and every day is filled with something to write about.  I just start off typing and away it goes!!!  Some days I type through the day when I get a few minutes spare, some days I finish the day with a typing session!!!

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I try not to hide anything, but there is always something going on behind closed doors that people from the outside cannot see.  At the minute there isn't much time for hidden situations, but there will defo something going on at some point!!!  It's difficult to describe everything and not everybody understands!!!  The difficulties vary and really are mainly my monster McC 2 with all his appointments etc, but we'll get there in the end.

What three words describe your style?
I like to be organised, know what's happening and when - with the amount of children in here with dance clubs and sports clubs and pick ups and drop offs all over the place I just HAVE to be organised.  Yep, I'm a bit of a control freak and I probably take it too far too, but if I don't know what's happening I feel like I can't deal with it.  I really love laughing and seeing others having a laugh, fun and giggles is all it's about!!!  Never laugh AT somebody tho, always WITH!!!  The fun has to be all around!!!  Not just jokes tho, it's got to be serious fun times!!!  The more fun, the better.  I love teaching, probably because it means I get to say and people have to listen - joking!!!  I just love watching children learn something new and knowing I had a part in helping them learn!  It's such an amazing feeling when that happens!!!  (Sad git, I know!!!)

What do you love to do when you are not blogging?
I really love cake making - any cake for any occasion (sometimes for no occasion at all), creating new flavours and succeeding (nothing worse that a bad tasting cake)!!!  I make cakes quite regularly, but I have a hubby who doesn't really like cakes and cake making so don't get to make them as often as I'd like!!!
I love my friends and family and would do anything I could to help them out.  I really love inviting them round - party time, games time, tea and cake, BBQ, sunday roast - whatever takes our fancies!  A big favourite is quiz type questions with some very special friends.  Unfortunately, I don't do it as often as I should, friends and family are very special!  I have a few very special friends and hopefully they all know what they mean to me.  Some near and some far (par for the course when you've been brought up in the Army!!!)
I love my four wonderful children and my hubby and I really enjoy the 'just us' time that we get sometimes.  Due to my job, the 'just us' times aren't that often, but I think that makes them more special!!!  Even snuggling for a movie is just amazing sometimes!!!

So that is me and my blogging, time to tag a couple of others to carry the Blog Your Heart Out baton forward…

More fun - Wednesday's are good! 07.05.14

Mostly normal day - breakfast, school run, housework, nursery pick ups - then came some FUN!!!

Mummy McC took McC 4 and two mindees to the soft play centre again!!!  Mummy McC met some friends and some mindees who haven't been for a few weeks - all the children were very excited to meet up again!!!  Mummy McC and her friends had a good old chit chat, moaned about grown up things and had a lovely hot choc whilst doing it!!!  Just perfect for Mummy McC!!!

Whizzed out to school to collect the children from the school run, home for some mathematical fun!!!  Mummy McC prepared the sweets in tubs and gave each child ten pence (6 x 2p's and 4 x 1p's).  McC 2 was the shop keeper this time and each child was allowed to buy 10 sweets.  Some of the older ones realised really quickly that they could buy a few now and save some pennies for their next visit.  Some of the younger ones realised that if you buy 1 sweet and pay with 2p then you get 1p change - change is something really exciting for McC 4!!!  Mathematics all round, McC 3 was working out how many sweets each child had bought by checking their change, McC 2 was working out how many sweets had gone out in total by multiplications.  LOVE MATHS!!!

Mummy McC made a pick n mix for Mummy McC's best friend - she is craving them right now, so this should go down a treat!!!

Daddy McC took one mindee to Drama class, Mummy McC tidied away and began the bath time, story time, calm time with the children.  McC 1 left for his Drama class an hour later.

Daddy McC put the McC children to bed and began telling stories.  Mummy McC made some dinner and the 'chill' time began.  Time to prepare for the fun of tomorrow!!!  x

Thursday, busy prep day!!! 08.05.14 Not sure why these haven't blogged online the past few days!

Mummy McC is preparing for a visit - a very special visit!!!  All the McC children are excited because Nannan B is coming for a visit.  Nannan B lands this afternoon, but will probably see the McC children tomorrow!!!  Mummy McC can't wait too!!!  It's been a while since Nannan B's last visit!!!

Washing done, housework done, snow cleaned up (yep, still finding small white polystyrene balls EVERYWHERE!!!)

School runs and Nursery runs and pick ups and drop offs - phew, non-stop!!!

No dance/drama clubs today.  McC 1's rugby practice was cancelled due to rough weather (understandably with ALL the rain we've had)!

Quiet afternoon after school, movies on for tired children.  Two mindees need to stay - Mummy McC makes the preparations and all good to go!!!  Mummy McC began the bedtime plan and actually had 5 sleeping children by 19:45!

Mummy McC had forgotten one thing - dinner for Mummy McC and Daddy McC!!! Quick rustle up of some homemade wedges and some chicken for Daddy McC - apparently the best spicy wedges Mummy McC has ever made!!!  Mummy McC had some noodles (she'll turn into a noodle one day)!!!

Chill, before the madness and excitement of Nannan B's visit - woooooohooooooooo!!!!! x

Tuesday 6 May 2014

A busy, but happy, Tuesday!

Mummy McC decided to whip up some special batter and make homemade waffles and homemade doughnuts today.  Lots of yummy noises from all the McC children and the mindees - happy children.

Daddy McC did the school run this morning, Mummy McC finished getting ready.  Mummy McC's friends popped in just as Mummy McC was getting ready to traipse off to the shops (McC 1 needed something by the end of the day - talk about prior warning!!!)  Mummy McC's friend K offered to take Mummy McC shopping in her care - wooooohooooo, no walking for Mummy McC!!!

Mummy McC did a quick shop and decided to buy some really yummy baguettes and meats for lunch, but go so hungry decided to do a brunch for Daddy McC, friends K & D and herself - such a lovely spread, full tummy and happy face!!!  Daddy McC went out to do the Nursery pick up and Mummy McC began clearing the dishes away and doing the washing!

Mummy McC friends left and Daddy McC returned with McC 4 and a mindee, Mummy McC collected another mindee and the afternoon of play began.

Mummy McC took McC 4 and one mindee to a soft play centre, Daddy McC went on the school pick up and met Mummy McC at the soft play centre.  This is what Mummy McC likes to do on a Tuesday!!!  Mummy McC's friends, K & D, J and a few others turned up and good chit chat was had all round!!!

Home for a lovely dinner for the children - all the children really liked the spread.  Happy children!!!

All in all, happy day. Happy children = happy Mummy McC!!!

X

Monday 5 May 2014

Bank holiday Monday-means fun, fun, fun!!! X

Mummy McC got up with McC 3 and McC 4, McC 1 came down shortly afterwards and McC 2 joined us too.  The children wanted to have brioche and croissants for breakfast and a mindee (Mummy McC's nephew) arrived too.  14 brioche and 9 croissants later = full children.

Mummy McC thought it would be a good idea to sort out the living room toy boxes - sometimes, when tidying up, the children will put cars in the people box and this is not how Mummy McC likes the toys to be!!!  All the children loved finding some of the missing toys at first, but after thirty or forty minutes the novelty had worn off.  Mummy McC finished the job whilst Daddy McC fixed a snack and a juice for all the children.  Two hours later and all was sorted - happy Mummy McC.

McC 2 and Mummy's nephew played with cars and McC 3 and McC 4 had a teddy bear's picnic - happy children, but for how long.  McC 1 began the gruelling task of clearing out his room - being nearly 13 means his room isn't always as it should be!!!

Mummy McC had a BRILLIANT idea - a BBQ, so sent McC 1 to buy a few things from the shop.  Daddy McC got the BBQ lit and away we went.  Super happy children, burgers and sausages and a movie on too.  Movie's at the dining table are becoming a habit!

Mummy McC cleared away the BBQ things and the children decided they wanted to watch the sequel to the first movie.  Snacks and movie time = happy children!

Mummy McC had the clever (or not so clever) idea of putting two beanbags in one - the beanbags had become limp (Mummy McC thinks that McC 1 has unzipped them in his room, white balls seen in there too)!  You'd think it would be simple to put one set of beans (white polystyrene balls) into another beanbag, but NO it is not!!!  The beans went everywhere, the bags slipped, the balls became static - OH MY, WHAT A MESS!!!

Mummy McC had some beans left over from filling the cube nearly to the top and McC 3 and McC 4 thought it looked like it was snowing, they decided that it could snow on their Peppa Pig figures.  McC 2 and Mummy McC's nephew decided to join the game too.  How long do you think four children can play with little polystyrene balls?  THREE HOURS!!!  Three hours of  games, three hours of giggles, three hours of snow, three hours happy children, three hours of FUN, FUN, FUN!!!  Daddy McC has cleared them away, broom and hoover, but Mummy McC has found a few stray white polystyrene balls around the place.  Will Mummy McC find any more white polystyrene balls tomorrow?

All the children coloured a beautiful card each for Nannan B's birthday (51 today) and Mummy McC e-mailed them to Nannan B.  Living in Germany means the children don't get to see Nannan for her birthday so they called her and sang to her down the phone.  McC 4 loved Nannan B mixing the names of the children up - total giggly time, happy children.

All the children went to bed ready for back to school tomorrow - snores all round must mean fun day's are good!!!  x

Sunday 4 May 2014

Oh what a Sunday!

Mummy McC made a decision this morning to walk to church - just about 1 hour away!!!  Saves on bus fare, the cost for the day for Mummy McC and five children would be near enough £10!!!

Breakfast, dressed and ready to go early with the walking!  Mummy McC, all the McC children and one mindee (Mummy McC's nephew) set off for Church.  Mummy McC runs the Sunday School, today's activity was printed and ready to go!  Just over an hour of walking and the rain stayed away!!!

Sunday School was fun, creating Crosses full of words.  Into Church for the final part of the service, the Vicar completed the service and nearly forgot to ask the Sunday School children what they had done, Mummy McC said to McC 2 that the children could show the work later, McC 2 said to ask God if we could show, erm, McC 2 meant the Vicar - haha!!!

Cup of tea after the service and a lovely catch up with friends.  McC 1 left early to spend some extra time with Great Grandad B.  Eventually all the important talking was completed and Mummy McC, the rest of the McC children and Mummy McC's nephew could leave Church.  A short walk whilst eating some brioche to Great Grandad's house.  All the children were quite excited as it had been a while since they'd been to Great Grandad's.

Great Grandad thought it good to show the children pictures of Mummy McC and Mummy McC's sister and brother when they were younger.  Then Great Grandad put on some video clips too - major embarrassment for Mummy McC, major hilarious and giggle time for the children!!!

LONG, slow walk home - all the children were tired, but still managed to play spot the car, count the colours and have a giggle along the way.  Mummy McC's sister had finished work and met along the way to take Mummy McC's nephew home.  Mummy McC and the McC children go home, time to chill out!!!

Mummy McC called Nannan B to give her a quick update on Great Grandad B, made some baked potatoes for dinner and put on a movie - the McC children LOVE watching a movie at dinner time.  Such a quiet, relaxed meal time!!!

McC 4 asked Daddy McC for a cuddle and fell fast asleep - all that walking must've taken it out of him.  McC 2 and McC 3 had PJ time and managed to watch some of the bedtime hour before it was story time and snorey time for them!!!

McC 1 had some computer time and chill time, a long bath and then even McC 1 was ready for bed - walking must've taken it out of him too!!!

Daddy McC chose a movie, Mummy McC rustled up a quick dinner and they both settled down for a quiet night!!!  Walking is good for you, they say?!  Not sure Mummy McC and the McC children agree!!!  x

Saturday 3 May 2014

Saturday - just a normal Saturday this week!

Again we have a normal start for Mummy McC - McC 2 up very early, followed by McC 3 and then McC 4!  McC 1 didn't have much of a lie in either - noisy house today!!!  The two visitors woke fairly earlyish too.  One mindee dropped off as his mum went off to start her early shift.  Breakfast madness wasn't too bad - toast all round today!  Any idea how much toast 7 children can munch through???  One and a half loaves of bread!!!  TOAST MONSTERS!!!

McC 2 and McC 3 wanted to chill with a movie - Alvin was the choice!!!  All 7 children sat really still and really quiet - Mummy McC thanks Alvin for that!!!

Quickest nip round a car boot sale ever - in and out in about 5 mins!!!  No major bargains, but McC 2 now has 5 of the Harry Potter books!!!

Daddy McC took McC 1 to enrole at a rubgy club - not Mummy McC's favourite idea, but McC 1 is so keen!!!  The training session went extremely well and the coaches were quite impressed with McC 1!!!

Mummy McC dropped one mindee at performing arts class, two mindees back to their mummy and managed to squeeze a quick nip to the shops for supplies - all before lunch!!!

Mummy McC made a super cooked brunch today - so much food, not enough space for toast to fit on the plate, haha!!!  Happy children!!!

McC 1 went to performing arts in the afternoon and McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4 played in the garden for hours!!!  Mummy McC managed to catch up on some washing and Daddy McC did some housework (boring Saturday stuff)!!!

McC 1 returned from performing arts and all the McC's watched Matilda as they ate their dinner - Mummy McC loves to hear the children laughing at a movie.

Quiet time after dinner, followed by McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4 having a bath.  Story time and snoring time followed shortly too - tired McC children.  Even McC 1 sloped off to bed early - hard work playing rugby and doing performing arts.

Mummy McC and Daddy McC spent some time organising Daddy McC's game - Mummy McC likes the typing and computing and Daddy McC likes the matches.

Then CHILL before all the madness tomorrow!!! x

Friday 2 May 2014

Friday's are busy, but not always this busy!!!

Another fairly normal start for Mummy McC - McC 2 up very early, followed by McC 3 and then McC 4!  McC 1 needed a bit of a shout from Mummy McC!!!  Breakfast madness wasn't too bad - choice of cereal bars and fruit!  Two mindees arrived, one in PJ's (his mummy had to peel him out of bed!!!)  Mummy McC found some uniform for that mindee and another mindee arrived.

McC 1 set off for school without any major issues, McC 2 had lost a shoe, McC 3 wanted plaits again and McC 4 wanted a fleece instead of a jumper - but all managed to go to school with Daddy McC without much fuss.

No mindees in the morning between school drop offs and nursery pick up, Mummy McC watched some catch up TV!!!

Nursery run at lunch time - just McC 4 and one mindee, quiet time for now.  Daddy McC made sausage sandwiches for lunch, yummy!  The boys chilled with interactive computers for a while and Mummy McC found all the ballet uniforms.  Message from a parent - can we collect two children?  Sure.  Message from another parent - can we have their children to stay?  Sure.  (It's all money!!!)

Mummy McC collected children and walked to the dance school.  Ballet uniforms on for McC 3 and McC 4.  Quick change, two mindees dropped off for their dance lessons and Mummy McC and the bunch left for the park on the way home.  McC 1 and McC 2 nipped to the shop and bought items for a very impromptu picnic at the park - excited children all round!!!

Home and PJ time all round, bedding changed over and rearranged.  Meanwhile, Daddy McC goes to collect three mindees from choir and dance classes.  Quiet time at home watching some bedtime programs.  Story time and bed for McC 3, McC 4 and the two visitors.

Daddy McC returns with the mindees!  Two mindees collected early, yipppppeeeeeee!  Two mindees collected late, but not too late.  One mindee collected at normal time!!!

Mummy McC sits down - exhausted!!!  Daddy McC orders a takeaway - happy Mummy McC!!! x

Thursday 1 May 2014

Another mad day in the McC household!

Fairly normal start for Mummy McC - McC 2 up very early, followed by McC 3 and then McC 4!  McC 1 needed a bit of a shout from Mummy McC!!!  Just as breakfast began, Mummy McC answered the door to a mindee, shortly followed by two more mindees.  Breakfast madness - in the McC house it is crazy!!!  A variety of questions need dealing with!!!
  1. What colour bowl to have?
  2. Where to sit?
  3. Which cereal to choose?
  4. With or without milk?
  5. Big spoon or little spoon?
That's just a cereal day!!!

McC 2, 3 and 4 put on their uniforms ready for school.  McC 2 cannot find his shoes, McC 4 cannot find his fleece and McC 3 would like Mummy McC to do two plaits!  Mummy McC finds the shoes and the fleece, plaits the hair and makes sure all bags and lunch boxes are good to go by the door!!!

McC 1 has a school trip, so no uniform!!!  Mummy McC was not overly impressed with the mix of colours between the trousers, t-shirt and jacket - but Mummy McC cannot choose McC 1's clothes anymore, sad Mummy McC!!!  McC 1 did try to leave without a raincoat!!! Mummy McC won that one and the raincoat went with McC 1 on his trip!!!

Mummy McC leaves for school only a few minutes late and the walk/rush to school begins!!!  School drop offs completed and on time - wooooohooooo!!!  Quick nip to the shop on the way home, Mummy McC gets a super bargain!!!

Mummy McC begins the catch up of paperwork/housework for an hour before another mindee arrives.  Set up the mindee with castle, princesses and a dragon - toys of choice!  Then prepare the lunches.  Mindee needs to eat before the Nursery pick up as mindee goes to afternoon nursery!!!

Mummy McC and Daddy McC leave for the pick ups/drop offs with the mindee!  Rush to Nursery, collect McC 4 and 3 mindees, pop to the park for 5 minutes of freedom, then madness - an afternoon nursery drop off and an after lunch nursery pick up at different nurserys and at practically the same time, thank goodness for Daddy McC!!!  Mummy McC goes to collect and Daddy McC goes to do the drop off!!!

Lunch for McC 4 and the mindees, mad afternoon with a farm toy and extra animals (giggles all round).  Quick light snack and off for more school pick ups!!!

Mummy McC and Daddy McC headed to the school, dropped two mindees back to their mummy, collected McC 2, McC 3 and two more mindees and left the school!  Change of route home to accommodate a duck feeding trip!!!  Excited children!

A very long walk - over a bridge, down a path, over another bridge, down a path, over another bridge (this one had cars go under it) - excitement all round, but mostly for McC 2 who stood spotting the car makes for five minutes!!!  Further on was a 'jungle' according to McC 4 and the children all listened to the sounds of chirping birds!!!  Then came a climbing apparatus called the Spider's Web.  Quick climb, quick snack and moving on (fearing the rain was going to come and get us), more walking and more spotting and McC 4 had a caterpillar on his hair - exciting!!!  Then the duck feeding bridge - who could throw the bread the furthest?  Daddy McC won that one!  Quick park stop and then heading home!!!  One mindee got collected by an early mum on the way and another tiny park stop too!!!  NO RAIN, wooooohoooooo!!!  Mummy McC loves children's chattering when they've enjoyed what they've done!!!

Dinner time all round, McC 4's choice - sausage, chips and beans, followed by a fruit salad!!!  Free playtime, books time and then bath for McC 2, McC 3 and McC 4!!!  Quiet time, children need to chill!!!  McC 1 returns 'wet through' from his trip and is sent immediately to the bathroom!!!  Mummy McC will make him some dinner after a bath!!!

Two mindees staying late (ish) as their mummy is working a long shift, so PJ's time for them!!!  Then it's stories downstairs for the mindees and stories upstairs for the younger McC's!!!

McC 1 has dinner and Mummy McC doesn't have to force the homework tonight - woooohooooo!!!  McC 1 is ready for tomorrow, Mummy McC has the uniform ready for tomorrow and has already prepared the packed lunches!!!

Mindees go home and Mummy McC and Daddy McC finally sit down - ooooooops, don't think Mummy McC and Daddy McC remembered their dinner today!!!

All ready for the madness of tomorrow!!!  x

Wednesday 30 April 2014

The joys of signing!!!

Bit of background - Mummy McC did her Year 10 work experience in 1998 at a Special Needs Nursery at around the time that signing was being used for all children with Special Needs and not just those with difficulty hearing.  Mummy McC loved the signing and how much the children managed to thrive with it and studied it further after her work experience was over.

Mummy McC decided that she would use Makaton with McC 1 and when he was only 7 months old he could sign milk, nappy, hungry and tired - clever McC 1!

Mummy McC learnt more Makaton and by the time McC 2 came along, Mummy McC had it cracked!!!  McC 2 decided signing was great and would sign conversations before he was 2 (he forgot to do the speaking bit tho!!!)

McC 3 had a turn at signing too and she loves Mr Tumble!!!  As does Mummy McC, but Dave Benson Phillips is great at Makaton too!!!

McC 4 is a natural - signing comes so easy to him!  Signing from a young age and sneaking into Sing and Sign classes!!!  He loved Jessie so much and dragged along a few friends, so a wonderful Sing and Sign teacher, Nicki Reeson, created an over 18 months class for McC 4 to attend!!!  He LOVED it, he sang all the songs and new the majority of the signs and just couldn't wait each week until it was our class.  He still has the certificate of graduating from the class!!!  Now McC 4 signs nursery rhymes each week at Nursery and he's fab at that too!!!

I've also taught a few mindees some signing too, but the most amazing results came from the same Sing and Sign classes - Nicki managed to encourage a young boy of limited communication skills to become verbal and confident!!!

Click on this website - I cannot recommend this class and this teacher enough, she's amazing, she encourages all the children and teaches the children and parents excellent communication skills!!!  Go see if you can attend a class!!!

http://www.singandsign.com/classes/classes-near-you/warrington

Though my children are older, I still sign regularly - signing is just IN me!!! x

What started as a look at the now, ended as a history of us now! (WARNING! Long blog!)

As predicted, yesterday was a bit of a busy rush, but all children seemed to have tonnes of fun (which is what it is all about)!

Whilst at the soft play centre, Mummy McC made enquiries about a big party - booking out the whole soft play centre, hiring in the best entertainment and bringing in three cakes!!!  Will this be the best party ever for 3 of the McC children (the big McC child will NOT have a party in a soft play centre, but he will be 13 so he will have to have a different celebration)!!!

Mummy McC cannot believe how fast all the McC children are growing.  McC 1 is going to be starting Year 9 in September, third year in high school and will be looking at options for GCSE's.  Mummy McC is so happy that McC 1 is on schedule for A and A* grades in all subject areas, so decisions of what to take will be a bit difficult!!!  McC 2 has already been moved up a school year, he's working very hard in all areas and achieving lots of vivo stars, stickers and certificates.  McC 3 is ready for Year 2, working mainly in groups with the higher achievers and flying high as usual.  She is so academic and most of it comes easy to her - lucky girl!!!  McC 4 is ready for school (Mummy McC is not crying at the thought of this, well, not a lot of crying yet!!!)  McC 4 has been using phonetical sounds to play guessing games, thriving with his reading skills by reading books, posters and sign posts and has been playing shop with real money and working out simple mathematical problems dealing with ideas such as change - such a super star McC 4!!!  Mummy McC is very sad at having children who are growing up so fast - slow down time, it's not fair!!!

Mummy McC always wanted four children and Daddy McC wanted one - Mummy McC won that one!!!  Mummy McC doesn't want anymore children, but has the feeling of 'never say never' - Daddy McC has a 'not a chance, no way' feeling!!!  Think Daddy McC will win that one.

Having children wasn't always simple for Mummy and Daddy McC.  Living situations, extended family and medical problems got in the way!!!  So here goes - VERY long story about how the McC's became the McC's!!!

Mummy McC and Daddy McC met at school - awwww, so cute!  Mummy McC and Daddy McC didn't get on very well at first, but grew to like each other over time.  Mummy McC and Daddy McC became a couple on Saturday 6th November 1999!  Mummy McC and Daddy McC were both in Sixth Form at Windsor School on JHQ Rheindahlen (sadly, the school is no longer there - but that's a totally different story!)  Mummy McC and Daddy McC had a lovely first Christmas together and Daddy McC went to Scotland to celebrate the Millenium and Mummy McC stayed in Germany.  Daddy McC had a very special question for Mummy McC on his return and on Sunday 9th January 2000 Daddy McC and Mummy McC got engaged!!!  Daddy McC moved to England with his parents and Mummy McC stayed for a second year in Sixth Form to finish A-levels.  Daddy McC visited Mummy McC and managed to get a job so he could stay!!!

Mummy McC and Daddy McC got a wonderful surprise in February 2001 when they found out Mummy McC had been growing McC number 1 for 16 weeks already.  So the feeling sick because of running up the stairs or skipping breakfast wasn't really all that!!!  McC 1 was due on 4th August and after a bit of trouble on Daddy McC's side of the family held on inside Mummy McC and was 9 days late.  Due to complicated circumstances (and easy free living) Mummy McC and baby McC 1 lived with Nannan and Grandad B in a lovely big house in Germany.  Daddy McC lived with Nanny S, but was just a bit away and seen baby McC 1 ALL the time.  Mummy McC and baby McC 1 weren't meant to live with Nannan and Grandad B for long, but it was easy and free and moving out was expensive and difficult!!!  More complicated family stuff meant that Mummy McC's sister had a baby and Mummy McC became an Auntie - AMAZING feeling!!!  No space in the big B house for any more children and Mummy McC and Daddy McC didn't have enough money to move out!!!  That put a hold on Mummy McC's ideas for more children!!!  Even more complicated family stuff for Daddy McC and Nanny S meant that Daddy McC had to move away for a while to Scotland to be with Papa McC.  It wasn't easy for Mummy McC and baby McC 1 to be away from Daddy McC, but Daddy McC visited when he can.  MORE complicated family stuff for Great Papa McC meant that Daddy McC was offered a place for us all to live - WOW!!!  What a wonderful gift from Great Papa McC!!!  Mummy McC and baby McC 1 (not so baby any more, he was 3 and a half!!!) went to see the new flat and a new school.  Mad decision was made to get married before Mummy McC moved away from Germany - aaaarrrrgggghhhh - can a wedding be done in just under 12 weeks!!!  EVERYTHING couldn't have gone better, such a wonderful event occurred on July 2nd 2005 when Mummy really became a McC!!!  Lots of wonderful people attended the event and so many generous people gave Mummy McC and Daddy McC a wedding to remember!!!  Nannan and Grandad B looked after McC 1 so that Mummy McC and Daddy McC could have a night of peace before the madness of moving occurred!!!  Just one month later Mummy McC and McC 1 moved away!!!

In September 2005 Mummy McC, Daddy McC and McC 1 had a New Start in a new country.  No Nannan and Grandad B to help, no real family close by - life was a WHOLE LOT different then.  A new school for McC 1, a bit tricky as he wasn't old enough for school in Scotland, but was in England, but after a bit of a battle and a lot of effort Mummy McC and Daddy McC got early entry for McC 1.  McC 1 was a very high flyer academically, but the school didn't suit him.  McC 1 would be upset because he was not awarded a sticker for improvement when Monday was 10 out of 10 and Tuesday was 10 out of 10 etc - as a mummy, how do you explain to a 4 year old that he was too good to improve!!!

Mummy McC and Daddy McC decided it would be nice to give McC 1 a little borther or a little sister, but life became difficult within the first weeks of living in Scotland.  At a routine check-up whilst registering at the doctors it was discovered that Daddy McC had what looked like the dreaded C in one of his testicles.  The dreadful news was confirmed the very next day and Mummy McC and Daddy McC fell into a world of confusion.  What would happen next, what would be the way forward for Daddy McC?  Three days later Daddy McC had a very serious appointment with a very specialised Dr and was told three very important things - 1. he would have an operation in 7 days time, 2. he would probably need chemo and or radio therapy and 3. it may end up that he never has any more children and could become infertile!!!  Mummy McC and Daddy McC's whole world was turned upside down.  Daddy McC's operation happened in the next City and Mummy McC, with no car/transport, had to stay at home with McC 1 and Papa McC went with Daddy McC.  Mummy McC was nervous all day, but Papa McC called and said everything had gone well.  Daddy McC came home the next day and began to recover from his operation.  The Dr removed Daddy McC's stitches, but more news would come from the specialist.  A very anxious wait for Mummy McC and Daddy McC for the specialist appointment to be arranged.  Mummy McC began to feel very sick, but thought that was to do with the nerves of the upcoming appointment for Daddy McC.  Seven weeks after the operation Mummy McC took a test, one of those special tests that mummy's take, one of those special tests that mummy's want to be positive - AND IT WAS!!!  HOW EXCITING!!!  On that very same day Mummy McC and Daddy McC got called to the hospital as the specialist had a space available for Daddy McC to have an appointment - unbelievably, Daddy McC's operation was the most successful it could ever have been, no further treatments and unlikely to cause any further issues tho monitoring will be necessary.  Mummy McC and Daddy McC could not have wished for better news.  CELEBRATIONS ALL ROUND!!!

Everybody in Scotland had their own little friendship groups and Mummy McC and Daddy McC didn't really get to know anybody.  Life was tricky for the McC's in Scotland in all aspects, but mainly for McC 1 in his school and Mummy McC and McC 1 didn't like being too far away from family and friends and lasted only 6 months in Scotland before moving house AGAIN to Warrington. A house move at 19 weeks pregnant with no car was quite tricky, but we travelled by coach overnight and joined Nannan and Grandad B who had also moved to Warrington too, such an exciting time!!!

Another New School, but much more suited to McC 1.  He was given so much more educational guidance and was thriving and achieving so much - such a clever boy.  The teacher's could not have been happier with him and gave him work from the next class to complete.  McC 1 loved all the brain work too!!!

When Mummy McC was 32 weeks pregnant she felt unwell and attended the ANU.  It was discovered that McC 2 had a small heart problem where his heart would do a double beat every 5th beat, but there was no major concern and consultants thought that it may self correct during labour.   McC 2 decided to arrive nine days late and had no heart problems after birth - wooooohooooooo!!!  MORE CELEBRATIONS!!!  Another blue McC!!!

September 2006 meant that McC 1 went into Year 1 and began working with Year 2's - Mummy McC and Daddy McC always knew he was clever!!!  McC 1 achieved a great deal in his Year 2 work and loved it!!!  McC 2 hit many milestones a little early, but Mummy McC and Daddy McC both know that children develop at their own pace and that it doesn't really matter, but times were great for Mummy McC, Daddy McC and McC 1 & 2!!!

September 2007 was time for McC 1 to go into Year 2 and quickly began working with the Year 3's - initially for literacy and numeracy and very soon full time - Mummy McC's first born was upstairs with the juniors!!!  McC 2 continued to thrive and began signing full conversations - such a clever little McC!!!  Mummy McC and McC 2 were enjoying a lovely breastfeeding journery and soon came a time when Mummy McC had some jeans that were beginning to feel tight - another POSITIVE test, wooooohooooooo!  Mummy McC saw a midwife and was due towards the end of July!!!  McC 2 learned how to drink cow's milk, how to count and how to remember whatever was said before he was 2 and the signing continued!  Mummy McC had McC 3 9 days after she was due - MORE MCC CELEBRATIONS!!!  A pink McC!!!

September 2008 was another step for McC 1 and he began the school year working with Year 4's and ended it working with Year 5's and 6's - continuing his clever streak!!!  McC 2 continued with his signing and began a fascination with cars and number plates!!!  As with any boy, cars are great!!!  McC 3 was a dinky McC and grew slowly, lovely for Mummy McC as she stayed in her outfits longer - a mummy's dream!

September 2009 and McC 1 continued to thrive with the Year 5's and 6's.  McC 2 began nursery and the nursery staff were amazed at McC 2's memory and his ability to communicate with signing, but were concerned at his lack of verbal skills - a trip to Speech and Language!!!  Speech and Language assessed and decided he could make the phonetical sounds, just preferred to sign!  Practice, practice and more practice at talking and away he went!!!  McC 2 went on to learn how to read the names of his class mates and various other labels around the nursery and so his reading journey began!!!  Clever little McC!  McC 3 began her signing journey and she was a chatterbox with it!!!  Mummy McC had another one of those positive tests and McC 4 arrived 9 days late in May 2010.  (Four McC babies and all were 9 days late - hmmm, a pattern?!)

September 2010 was time for McC 1 to join the Year 6 classroom, so grown up!  McC 2 began full time school, Mummy McC had two McC's in school!!!  McC 2 had some settling in issues with the structure of Reception, but no major issues.  McC 3 continued to thrive and grow and learn and began counting.  McC 4 began his signing journey too - signing is very important to the McC children and Mummy McC!  Mummy McC was very happy with four children and Daddy McC went and had 'the op' on his remaining one!!!

September 2011 was McC 1's final school year in the most amazing primary school!!!  How could McC 1 be ready to leave primary school - aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!  Mummy McC was not ready for that!!!  McC 2 moved onto Year 1, such a tricky change - but other than a few issues with a pencil, McC 2 started to show his clever academic skills too!!!  McC 3 started Nursery - three McC children in school and only one McC baby at home, sad times for Mummy McC!!!  That said, McC 4 was not really a baby anymore.  He began counting and sounding out phonetics and naming colours and shapes and just being extra clever!!!

September 2012 and McC 1 headed off to HIGH SCHOOL, all by himself, with no Mummy McC or Daddy McC - and he survived!!!  Mummy McC doesn't like children growing up!!!  McC 2 moved into Year 2 and McC 3 began full time school too - again more growing up and more sad faces from Mummy McC!!!  McC 4 was only 2, but Mummy McC paid for him to attend nursery for one morning a week much to the delight of McC 4.  Nursery loved McC 4 and he learned so many new skills and gained so many friends!!!  McC 4 even began learning Spanish!!!

September 2013 and McC 1 moved on in High School, Year 8!  High flying and ready to shine!!!  McC 2 is a junior and working hard academically and socially (social skills are a struggle for McC 2, as is routine and change and taking things literally - but that's for another blog!)  McC 3 moved into Year 1 and began sitting at tables and learning hard!!!  McC 4 began nursery full time - 5 mornings a week!!!  Mummy McC even has some mornings free from children (with her job!!!)  WHAT WILL MUMMY McC AND DADDY McC DO WITH THEIR FREETIME??? Read further blogs to see!!!

The first of hopefully many blogs!

The first of hopefully many blogs!  An mere introduction!

Mummy McC is always busy, four children at home and a fair few mindees!  It's Mummy McC's job and SHE LOVES IT!  Mummy McC gets to be at home with her children and still earn some money too.  It doesn't make her a fortune, but enough to keep going.  Mummy McC is so, so lucky that her wonderful husband, Daddy McC, works at home with her - an unpaid volunteer!

Today, for example, Mummy McC has two little mindees at home, Daddy McC has gone to collect the youngest McC and another mindee and we are expecting another mindee to be dropped off shortly.  Mummy McC will then nip out to pick up another mindee and the minding for little ones is full for a while!  As it is Tuesday, the after school pick up will be interesting as it's a trip to a soft play centre - wonder how many children we will have then.  Plus, the eldest McC child has a £20 singing lesson this week too.

Three mindees are definitely here till 20:00 - parents who work shifts mean early or late hours for Mummy and Daddy McC.  Lucky for the McC children that Daddy McC can do bath and bedtime whilst Mummy McC does mindees quiet times!

Thanks for reading!  Some days might be boring, but hopefully you'll all enjoy what Mummy McC does!
